Jocelyn has always been arts-inclined and got her first โcreativeโ job as a portrait photographer in 2002 before studying photography at Holland College. While this involved very traditional portraiture, her work evolved to incorporate an editorial style with a mixture of conventional wet darkroom techniques layered with new digital technology. In 2005, Jocelyn and her partner co-founded Mod Photographic: a photographic studio focusing primarily on what came to be known as alternative process photography.
With the rise of digital photography, Jocelyn decided to move strictly in an editorial and commercial direction where she could focus on lighting, content, and context. She started incorporating unconventional typographic and illustration elements in her work, leading her to enrol in the graphic design program at NSCC in Nova Scotia, where she graduated with honours in 2007 at the top of her class.
Jocelyn honed her skills in the creative industry, spending some formative time in print production, managing Mod Photographic (eventually Mod Creative), and many years simultaneously working for small design agencies. During this 15-year period, there is a considerable body of work. This includes work for the food export industry, culinary and tourism sector, and the arts, heritage, and culture sector.
2020 brought many changes, and for Jocelyn it meant re-prioritizing and deciding to leave most of the corporate office life behind to focus on creative development and one-on-one consulting. She started J. Adams Co. as a catch-all outlet for her years of accumulated business and artistic skills as well as a way to challenge herself with new creative opportunities in film, sound, and writing.
Jocelyn is the Executive Director and Project Coordinator at Gender Affirming Care PEI, a community-based team working to improve health access and equity for the transgender, transsexual, and intersex communities.

Kind Words
โJocelyn is a creative professional, she developed a stunning gallery website with an on-line store and beautiful multi-use logos which compliment my style and essence for my small fine art business. Her training and talent with photography is an exciting added bonus which elevates her work, she is currently preparing to film and edit a promotional video for my business as well. Her peaceful demeanour, attention to detail and knowing her clients needs and style was a dream to work with, I highly recommend J. Adams Co and look forward to working with her again.โ
โI have had the pleasure of working with Jocelyn on logo design and printed advertisement. There was continuous support on proper branding techniques and anytime I had questions, they were immediately and accurately answered. There is a lot to consider during logo design and thanks to Jocelynโs experience, I learned so much so fast, avoiding some branding disasters. I have a much deeper appreciation for logo design and have deep respect for this profession.โ
โMy spouse and I have both worked with Jocelyn recently. We had great experiences. She takes the time to talk through your project to ensure your ideas make sense and are realistic for your needs and budget. I love that she also lets you know where you need to spend dollars and where you can save. Her graphic design work is beautiful, contemporary and clean. Sheโs also a wicked photographer! And โ as a bonus... offers an inclusive and safe space to 2SLGBTQ+ community.โ
